GentleMax is a cutting-edge laser solution that helps us get rid of discolourations located both in the epidermis and deeper layers of the skin.
The laser’s energy is absorbed by the excess pigment (melanin) present in the pigmented lesions of the skin. Next, the cells with excessive amounts of the pigment are broken down and eliminated from the body by the immune system. As a result, the discolourations get darker and, after a few days, the process of exfoliation begins. When it is over, Patients can enjoy a bright, glowing and healthy-looking skin.
The laser removal of discolourations is recommended for individuals who have been suffering from both deep and superficial pigmented lesions.
Before the first procedure, it is necessary to get a medical consultation to be qualified for the treatment. The treatment procedure is divided into several stages. Firstly, the Patient is prepared for the procedure, which involves thorough cleaning of the treatment site, protecting the Patient’s eyes with special safety goggles and setting the appropriate parameters. Next, the treatment is applied to the discoloured areas on the Patient’s skin by precisely directing the laser beam at the discolourations, without damaging the surrounding healthy skin. After the procedure, special sunscreen is applied to the skin.
It is possible to put makeup immediately after the treatment procedure. When the procedure is over, the Patient receives post-treatment recommendations to follow.
During the procedure, the skin feels slightly warm. This procedure requires no local anaesthesia and is described by our Patients as comfortable.
The number of recommended treatment procedures is an individual matter and depends, amongst others, on the nature of the discolourations and, in particular, on the depth at which the excess pigment is located. The easiest to remove are the epidermal discolorations, located in the top layers of the skin, when the pigment lies shallowly in the epidermis. In such cases, it sometimes happens that satisfactory effects are achieved as soon as after the first procedure.
More problems are posed by dermal discolourations, where the pigment is located in the deeper layers of the skin known as the dermis. The number of treatment procedures is determined on a case-by-case basis, but it is usually necessary to conduct 3–5 sessions at intervals of 3–4 weeks to remove such lesions.
The highest number of treatment procedures are necessary in the case of recurrent discolourations, which require 10 treatment sessions every 10 days. With this type of discolourations, it is extremely important to ensure adequate intervals between the consecutive procedures due to the physiology of the pigment cells, which are responsible for the recurrence of discolourations.
Depending on the treatment site, the procedure takes from 15 minutes on a small area (e.g. the forehead) to 30 minutes of a larger area (e.g. the whole face).
After the treatment procedure, the discolourations get darker and slight reddening may appear to the skin, which also fades after a few hours. On the second day, the discolourations will be considerably darker. Next, for a few more days, the darkened lesions will gradually flake off (exfoliate) until new, healthy skin is completely exposed. It is very important to apply an SPF 50 sunscreen after the treatment procedure.
Patients can resume their normal daily activities immediately after the procedure since it requires no recovery period on condition that Patients are not bothered by the darker shade of their discolourations.
