The methods used so far used to leave post-treatment scars and required long recovery periods. The once popular STRIP method involves excising (cutting out) a strip of scalp with hair and re-implanting single hair bulbs into hairless areas. The treatment procedure consists of two stages:
The first stage involves collecting single groups of hair follicles from the occiput area (the so-called donor area) using a vacuum head.
During the second stage, the hair follicles are precisely re-implanted into previously made, small incisions.
Next, the treatment area is illuminated with an LED lamp to accelerate the healing process and growth of new hair bulbs. Afterwards, the area is secured with a dressing.
The S.A.F.E.R. Hair Transplantation procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and feels comfortable for the Patient.
The duration of the procedure depends on the number of grafts made and the general condition of hair. Approximately, in the case of transplantation of 1,000 grafts, the procedure takes around 8 hours. There is an interval of about 30 minutes between the first and the second stage of the treatment procedure, during which the Patient receives a warm meal.

Within the first days after the treatment procedure, please take care not to damage the re-implanted hair follicles, for example by excessive rubbing or pressure. As a result of the anaesthesia, a slight oedema (swelling) may appear on the forehead. However, it should subside within up to a week without leaving any traces.
We recommend that the transplantation site be regularly washed every 2 – 4 hours for the period of 1 to 5 days after the treatment procedure. Please refrain from physical activity and effort. It is also recommended to avoid places where there is a higher risk of scalp infections (e.g. swimming pools).
A delicate shampoo with pH values ranging from 5.5 to 5.8 (e.g. Ducray Extra-Doux) can be used for hair washing within the period of 6 to 21 days after the treatment procedure. Please make sure that the water jet is not too strong. It is also possible to start physical activity of low intensity.
After 21 days following the treatment procedure, the scalp and hair can be washed and cared for the way they used to be before the treatment procedure. It is also possible to get involved into physical activity of high intensity.
Small scabs covering the transplantation sites will come off within a week. Within two weeks of the treatment procedure, it is completely natural for the re-implanted hair shafts to fall out in order to make room for new ones.
On the treatment day, it is necessary to wash your hair using a shampoo without conditioner. Other styling products, such as lotions, gels or styling mousse, are not allowed either.
Prior to the treatment procedure, it is necessary to have the basic laboratory tests performed - complete blood count, blood coagulation indices (APTT and INR), blood glucose level, albumin levels, AspAT, AIAT, CRP, the presence of virus/antibodies: HCV, HBV, HIV, general urine analysis, and - in the case of female patients - a pregnancy test. The test results must be delivered personally or via e-mail not later than 7 days before the scheduled date of the treatment procedure.

What is a graft?
The commonly used term “graft” is synonymous to a hair follicle from which hair shafts grow. Grafts may be divided into single and multiple (the latter contain 2-3 hair shafts).

When will the first effects be visible?
How quickly the first effects are seen depends on the individual features of each Patient. In some, they appear as early as after 3 months; in others, it may take up to a year for the first effects to become noticeable. After the transplantation procedure, we recommend LED phototherapy sessions that boost the growth of the re-implanted hair bulbs and accelerates the healing process. The final effects of the treatment can be assessed after 12 months.
Is it necessary to have a haircut before the treatment procedure?
It is an individual issue agreed with the physician. It is not always necessary, but may prove helpful.
