A modern therapy to treat migraine
Botox ensures considerable reduction in the intensity and frequency of the episodes – in some cases, the intensity and frequency of migraine is reduced by half after the treatment;
Scientifically proven effectiveness – on the basis of detailed studies conducted in western markets.
If left untreated, migraine headaches – typically characterised by a unilateral onset, nausea, vomiting and hypersensitivity to stimuli (light, noise or smell) – can severely hinder normal functioning. If left untreated, migraine may also develop from infrequent episodes (rare headaches) to a chronic form (frequent headaches).
Our Clinic offers a highly effective therapy to control headaches (migraines). It is known as Botox for migraines. Botox, which has so far been very popular in aesthetic medicine due to its anti-wrinkle properties, has also proved effective in the treatment of chronic migraines.
The preparation, known as type A botulinum toxin or Botox, leads to considerable reduction in the number and intensity of symptoms in patients who suffer from the common problem of chronic migraine. In 2010, after detailed studies, botox was authorised to treat such conditions as migraine and chronic headaches on the most rigorous markets, namely in the USA and Great Britain.
Migraine requires a different dose of botulinum toxin than the rejuvenating therapies do. It is smaller and hence does not impair the mobility of main muscle groups. Botox is administered by a specialised physician. Approximately half of the patients experience at least a two-fold reduction of migraine frequency and severity.
The Botox preparation is injected into selected muscle parts, which become blocked and relaxed.
The procedure, which takes several minutes, requires no anaesthesia or recovery – patients can return to their normal activities immediately afterwards. The first treatment effects are visible after a few days of treatment. The procedure should be repeated every 3 months.
The side effects of botox procedures also include the smoothing of forehead wrinkles (if any). Unlike in the case of rejuvenation procedures, botox for migraine is administered into different areas and at a higher dose than during the anti-wrinkle therapy.
The higher dose of botox makes the migraine therapy slightly more expensive than the botox treatment for skin rejuvenation.
