About the procedure

Fotona 4D is a laser facelift therapy that synergically combines four different treatment modes in a single procedure. It encompasses the following technologies: EndoLifting^®, FRAC3^®, PIANO^®, and SupErfacial^TM, which act simultaneously at various depths of the skin, thereby targeting different imperfections of dermal tissues. The application of two wavelengths within a single system, i.e. Nd:YAG and Er:YAG, makes it possible to conduct multiple aesthetic and therapeutic procedures. The Fotona technology allows for the use of different impulse durations, which additionally extends the scope of treatment options. The uniqueness of the Fotona 4D laser treatment lies in the fact that it affects both the external surfaces of the face and the inside of the mouth. This way, it is possible to fully reconstruct the collagen fibres throughout the thickness of the skin, thereby achieving permanent suppleness and density of the skin, as well as reduction of wrinkles.

The Fotona 4D treatment is recommended for individuals who would like to get rid of ageing signs and skin imperfections. It is an ideal proposal for those who cannot afford long recovery periods or procedures that require surgical interventions due to the risk of complications.

What does the treatment procedure look like?

Fotona 4D Laser Facelift consists of four stages, namely EndoLifting®, FRAC3®, PIANO®, and Superfacial^TM.

1. ENDOLIFTING® – the first part of the treatment procedure involves scanning the internal muscles of the mouth, the lateral zygomatic muscles, as well as the upper and lower parts of the lips. The precise Er:YAG laser transfers heat to the tissues, thereby leading to the contraction of collagen fibres, the filling of nasolabial furrows and the improvement of skin firmness.
2. FRAC3® – during the second part, the laser’s impulses are selectively applied to the skin, which complements the effects of the EndoLifting mode. The fractional 3D effect leads to rejuvenation of skin imperfections in its deeper layers. This stage is responsible for reducing fine wrinkles and increasing skin density.
3. PIANO® – the third stage uses long impulses of the Nd:YAG laser, which stimulates the firmness of the skin throughout its thickness. At this point, the skin is irradiated to the depth of approx. 6 mm, which leads to its deep thermal lifting.
4. SUPERFACIAL™ – the fourth part involves laser peeling and supplements all the previous stages of the treatment. Eventually, the skin looks much better, the complexion is brighter and the pores closed. Additionally, the treatment procedure eliminates all facial skin irregularities.

The first three stages (EndoLifting®, FRAC3D®, and PIANO®) are used to rejuvenate the specific, deeper skin imperfections, whereas the fourth one (Superfacial^TM) ends with an ablative procedure, the so-called laser peeling, which additionally makes the skin looks better, smooths it out and reduces all its imperfections. 

When the procedure is over, the Patient receives post-treatment recommendations to follow.

Pain sensations

The treatment procedure is practically pain-free. During its particular stages, the skin feels warm and a little bit prickly (the needles-and-pins sensation). The procedure is described by our Patients as comfortable, and requires no anaesthesia. The Fotona 4D Laser Facelift is a minimally invasive and safe procedure that produces excellent facelift results.

Recommended number of treatment procedures:

The recommended number of treatment procedures depends on the Patient’s age and skin condition. Effects are usually visible after a single session. However, in the case of more demanding skin types in elderly Patients, the treatment may be repeated after 3 to 6 months. It is also recommended to repeat the treatment once a year for lasting effects.

Duration of the treatment procedure

The estimated duration of the procedure is 1.5 to 2 hours.

Post-treatment recovery

Immediately after treatment, the skin may be reddened, slightly swollen and irritated.

After all 4 stages treatment stages, the recovery period depends on the Patient’s individual regenerative potential and the treatment parameters used (especially the depth of the last stage – the so-called laser peeling). The estimated period of recovery is approx. 2 to 5 days. During this time, the skin regenerates and the dead epidermis peels off.

Patients who cannot afford recovery periods of several days can skip the last stage (laser peeling) of the therapy. In such a case, they will be able to resume their daily activities practically on the second day after treatment, because the reconstruction process takes place in the deep layers of the skin.
